Objective Assessment in the Evaluation of the Occupational Medicine

Course Description
This course is designed to outline techniques and equipment for the objective physical therapy assessment of the occupationally injured patient.

These are necessary tools for all physical therapists to
1) Justify treatment and continued patient care.
2) Outline deficits for appropriate goal setting.
3) Assess benefits of treatment techniques for optimal results.
4) Document accurately to highlight progress with physical therapy
interventions.

Instructor
Courtney Bean P.T., CPT, DPT candidate
Courtney received his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Human Biology from the Faculty of Arts and Science and his Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the Faculty of Medicine all from the University of Toronto, Canada in 1991 and 1996 respectively. He has been certified as a personal trainer from the American Council on Exercise since 1993. Educationally, Courtney has also received his certificate of completion in orthopedic manual therapy in 2001 from the Ola Grimsby Institute and is currently completing his doctoral thesis. Professionally, Courtney is the Physical Therapy Coordinator in the Occupational Health Department at Kaiser Permanente in Oakland, California. There he divides his time between clinical care, the clinical instruction of students, and administrative duties. He sits on various work station and ergonomic committees within the organization as well as has instructed classes on repetitive strain injuries, back care and ergonomic self assessments.
